About Ball's Bluff Battlefield Park

About 2004, the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority embarked on what is now known as the Ball’s Bluff Battlefield Restoration Program. The purpose of the program is to return the Battlefield to its appearance in October 1861 when the final battle was fought there and to make battlefield interpretation efforts more effective.

Surrounding Ball's Bluff National Cemetery, this regional park preserves the site of the Battle of Ball's Bluff, the first Civil War engagement to take place in Loudoun County. Hiking trails and interpretive signs aid in understanding this important and tragic part of American history.
